This position will monitor and enforce parking regulations in Golden within assigned area. Responsible for citing parking violators and educating the public about City parking regulations.

JOB SUMMARY

Patrols assigned areas in parking enforcement vehicle or on foot to monitor compliance and issue tickets to violators.

Maintains a working knowledge of the applicable parking ordinances and understands their application to public and private property.

Maintains records of daily enforcement activities.

Educates and informs the public of parking issues and ordinances.

Responds to public inquiries and complaints regarding parking services, policies, procedures; resolves conflict with parking violators.

May participate in parking studies and other special parking projects.

Collects money deposited in parking pay stations.

Attends hearings to defend parking citations.

Provides emergency first response services to the public.

Creates and maintains enforcement manuals and applicable City maps.

Uses a police radio utilizing proper language, codes terminology and channels.

Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or (G.E.D.). Must be 21 years of age or older. Outstanding customer service skills required. Ability to deal with citizens and visitors in a positive manner in handling conflict. Parking enforcement, code enforcement or equivalent experience preferred. Must have basic computer skills. Prior customer service/ conflict resolution experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
