Description of Job

The Custodian II independently performs a range of tasks related to maintaining building interiors and furnishings in the Capitol Complex managed facilities. These tasks include, but are not limited to washing, wiping, dusting, scrubbing, scouring, laundering, vacuuming, sweeping, etc. Assignments may include keeping exterior walkways clear of debris and snow.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Custodial/Housekeeping Services – Office cleaning and common area cleaning which includes trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, window cleaning, multi-surface cleaning, brass cleaning/polishing, floor cleaning, recycling and restrooms

Lead worker – Assists the supervisor by leading the cleaning crew in day-to-day cleaning duties to assure that the highest quality of services are provided to tenants and customers of the State Capitol Building. This includes performing visual inspections and providing supplies and equipment. May require rotation of day and night shift. Assists in training newly hired custodial staff. Tracks supplies and performs minor maintenance as needed.

Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process

  • Shift Work: Primary shift is 4pm-12:30am, but must be able to work any shift
